INTERLAKEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – An Ithaca man is facing charges after a traffic stop.
Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies observed 42-year-old Stevaun Punter riding in the passenger side of a vehicle in Trumansburg around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023. Authorities pulled Punter over in nearby Interlaken, Seneca County for an active felony warrant and arrested him. During a vehicle search, deputies say they found a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun and a small bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Hunter allegedly claimed the handgun, which was reported stolen in 2019 in the Town of Ulysses, was his. He’s being held in Tompkins County Jail with no bail on his current warrants. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation into the discovery of the gun.
