NEWFIELD, N.Y. (WHCU) — Troopers are investigating a double fatality in Newfield. 

State Police say 42-year-old Patrick Robinson of Ithaca was riding his motorcycle on a wet and rainy Elmira Road when he lost control and laid the bike down. Another man, 34-year-old Matthew Poplawski of Schenectady, stopped to help.

Authorities say that’s when both men were struck by a car and were killed. The third driver, a 57-year-old Illinois man, is cooperating with investigators.
