ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A Chemung County Sheriff’s investigator is in critical condition, and two Ithacans are facing criminal charges.
State Police say authorities were called to the Big Flats Target on Friday for a reported theft. 24-year-old Dominick Haley reportedly left the stolen goods behind when confronted by someone in loss prevention and was picked up by Fatiuna Massaline, who’s also 24.
Authorities tried blocking the vehicle from leaving. An investigator chased after Haley and both ended up on the hood of the car, which sped away and turned sharply. The investigator suffered a severe head injury.
Haley was arrested at the scene and Massaline was arrested Saturday in Ithaca. Both face felony charges and are being held in the Chemung County Jail on 100 thousand dollars cash bail each.
