ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Two finalists to become Ithaca’s next police chief will answer questions from the community.

The city’s search committee narrowed their list to John Poleway, the former police chief in Larchmont, New York, and Lieutenant Thomas Kelly with the Schenectady Police Department. Both finalists will answer questions at a public forum at GIAC on Thursday evening at six.

Poleway and Kelly were among seven possible candidates in a nationwide search. The Ithaca Police Department has not had a permanent chief of police since April 2021.
