UPDATE: University officials have confirmed that Curtis is a Cornell University Police Officer. He was off duty at the time of the accident and has been placed on administrative leave. 

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A 19-year-old Ithaca College student is in serious condition after getting hit by a car in the town of Ithaca.

State Police say it happened around 1:30 Saturday morning when the student was walking on Slaterville Road. The driver, 30-year-old Blake Curtis, allegedly struck the student and immediately called 911.

Curtis is charged with vehicular assault and misdemeanor D-W-I. The unnamed student is being treated at Robert Packer Hospital.
