ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tompkins County officials will urge the governor to raise the minimum wage.

Officials are supporting the Raise the Wage Act, which would increase New York’s minimum wage to $20 an hour in 2026. Legislator Anne Koreman says the bill would help maintain the county’s population.

Other legislators like Mike Lane voted against the resolution, citing economic uncertainty. The motion passed, eight votes to six.
