ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Lawmakers in Tompkins County are preparing to honor indigenous peoples.

The legislature plans to recognize November as Native American Heritage Month. Officials say indigenous arts, philosophies, and culture helped shape the county.

The legislature is expected to make the proclamation this evening. The meeting begins at 5:30 PM.
