ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Leaders at TCAT are pressing state lawmakers for help.

The transit company has joined the New York Public Transit Association in urging Governor Hochul to boost state funding for upstate transit. In her 2023-2024 budget, Hochul has proposed raising the funding level to transit companies upstate by over seven percent, but the NYPTA wants a 20% increase.

Earlier this month, NYPTA President Bill Carpenter testified in Albany about the need for more transit funding.
