ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — TCAT has pulled all electric buses from the road.
The Ithaca Voice reports the decision was made March 13 over safety concerns after one of the buses had an axel separated from the body. In 2021, the transit agency purchased the buses from the now-bankrupt company Proterra as part of a goal to go all-electric by 2035.
TCAT’s Board of Directors is considering purchasing five diesel buses to improve service. The decision goes up for a vote at a future meeting.
