ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — TCAT is going to buy new diesel buses.
The Board of Directors voted Friday to approve the purchase of five diesel buses from Gillig, a California-based company. Board Chair Deborah Dawson says the buses are custom built once they’re ordered, so it’ll take eight to 10 months for the new fleet to arrive.
The Board also OK’d buying six electric buses from Gillig.
In addition, TCAT has a new permanent general manager. During Friday’s special meeting, Matthew Rosenbloom-Jones was appointed the transit company’s official leader.
Rosenbloom-Jones had served in the role temporarily for six weeks following the retirement of former GM Scot Vanderpool on March 1.
