CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – SUNY Cortland Football is bound for the 50th Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.

The Red Dragons punched their ticket to the Division III NCAA National Championship game over the weekend, beating Randolph Macon College. Cortland dominated on both sides of the ball against the Yellow Jackets, the same team that knocked them out of the first round of the playoffs last year, to cruise to a 49-14 victory. It was Randolph Macon’s first loss in the 2023 season.

The Red Dragons will square off against reigning champion North Central College at 7 p.m. on Friday in Salem, Virginia. It’s Cortland Football’s first appearance in a national title game. They’re the first school from New York to reach the final game since Ithaca College won it all in 1991.
