SPENCER, N.Y. (WHCU) — The town of Spencer held a Republican primary yesterday for a seat on town council.

In uncertified results, Bret Smith defeated Andrew Bailey Thornton by 12 votes. A total of 63 were cast in the primary for a two-year term.

There were no Democratic primaries in Tioga County. Results still need to be certified by the county board of elections.
