LANSING, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler says an activist group wants to close the Cargill salt mine in Lansing.
Sigler tells WHCU it’s the latest round of a long legal battle.
He adds safety checks are routine.
Sigler says the group is pressing Governor Hochul to close the mine, which would mean the loss of over 200 jobs.
