CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cortland County law enforcement is looking to tackle shoplifting.

Sheriff Mark Helms says crooks are targeting local companies.

“It’s not so much just one person coming to our area to do these thefts,” he says. “It’s not out of the ordinary to see three or four people, usually all in one vehicle that comes from out of town.”

Helms adds big box stores often deal with stealing.
