ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Officials are recruiting for a top position in Tompkins County.

The search has begun for the new County Attorney, who, in addition to managing all aspects of the attorney’s office, provides legal counsel to the legislature, administration, departments, and advisory boards.

“Working in a leadership role in County government has a huge impact on the community and the organization,” said Commissioner of Human Resources Ruby Pulliam. “The County Attorney reports directly to the Legislature and works closely with a team to serve our nearly 30 departments across all different issue areas. We’re looking for a leader whose guidance and insight help set the direction for our local government.”

Legislative Chair Dan Klein identified filling the position as a top priority in his State of the County Address.

“We’re looking for a strategic attorney who is interested in leading a team,” said Klein. “A successful candidate will be able to provide advice and guidance to the Legislature on important and wide-ranging topics. This role is a unique opportunity to be a leader while practicing several areas of law.”

The application deadline is February 25. More information is available.

Former County Attorney Bill Troy, who resigned in September, became an assistant DA in Cortland County late last month.
