ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Cayuga Medical Center is receiving over 10 million dollars in federal funding for upgrades to infrastructure.
Senator Chuck Schumer says the FEMA funding will go toward installing a pair of two-thousand-kilowatt emergency generators, construction of a new building to protect the generators from freezing cold conditions, and a 20,000-gallon underground storage tank.
Schumer, who’s the Senate Majority Leader, adds the money will ensure the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca can care for patients during extreme weather events.
