OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tioga County is considering taxing hotels and motels.

Officials are discussing a four-percent room tax. They say it would benefit the economy.

The tax would go into effect December 1. Legislators plan to file the law on Tuesday; a public hearing is provisionally scheduled for August 24.
