HOMER, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Red Cross has stepped in to assist displaced residents after a fire in Homer.

The Homer Fire Department responded to the Westside Trailer Park just before 6 p.m. on Thursday. Firefighters say someone driving by stopped and helped a woman out who could not exit the home on her own. Homer Fire Chief Jay Riley says an appliance was likely the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 15 minutes and were clear of the scene before 7:30 p.m.
