ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Bird enthusiasts still have time to register for a class in Ithaca.
Renowned ornithologist Dr. Stephen Kress’ Spring Ornithology course starts tomorrow at Kendal at Ithaca and happens each Tuesday night over the next 8 weeks. Dr. Kress says the class focuses on the different kinds of migratory birds that live and travel through the area.
Dr. Kress adds as the class progresses so too does the migration season, and the birds that will be covered.
Dr. Kress will also teach participants about the more intricate details behind the birds.
Part of Dr. Kress’ course will also focus on conservation. Kress adds that people should take advantage while the birds are still here, noting that the population has decreased by 30%, or 2.9 billion, since 1970.
The annual course is also available virtually via Zoom, live or archived. The class begins tomorrow night at Kendal at Ithaca from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will occur every Tuesday through May 14. Registration is available here.
