ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Plans are progressing for an Ithaca self-storage facility.

It would be located on Elmira Road. Architect Josh Best says the project involves two types of structures.

“We have climate-controlled self-storage where we have fully furnaced, fully climate-controlled buildings with fire sprinklers, and those are the large buildings that front the main roads,” he says. “And that is intentionally designed to shield the view from the more traditional self-storage [buildings] that you can see in the rear, that are not climate-controlled.”

The project recently received preliminary site plan approval from the Town of Ithaca Planning Board. Talks will continue on Tuesday.
