ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cornell is hoping to start construction on a new sports facility in the fall.

It would be called Meinig Fieldhouse. Athletics Director Dr. Nicki Moore says Big Red players need more room.

“We currently have not quite enough — not nearly enough — field space for those students and staff to participate in the sports and activities in which they would like to,” she says.

The 56-foot-tall building would house practices for football, lacrosse, and other sports. Ithaca officials are reviewing the project.
