ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Many parts of the City of Ithaca are experiencing traffic delays and power outages.
Much of Southwest Ithaca and South Hill are without power due to a utility pole fire earlier this afternoon. A SIREN alert was sent out at 3:17 p.m. to notify the public. City officials say to treat all intersections as four-way stops until power is restored. NYSEG is on scene for repairs, though there could be sporadic outages through the evening.
Another SIREN alert issued just around 5:13 p.m. has advised people to avoid the area of Floral Ave and Elm Street due to a fire from downed power lines.
Earlier in the day, an alert came in about a malfunctioning traffic light at the intersection of Dey Street and Route 13. This is unrelated to power outages. The NYSDOT is currently working on repairs.
