CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cortland city lawmakers are a step closer to creating a hotel and motel tax. 

Mayor Scott Steve says a recent Common Council resolution that calls on state lawmakers to adopt a bill allowing Cortland to create the new law is only one step. 

The Common Council seeks a one-percent tax on hotel and motel rooms in Cortland.
