ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cornell President Martha Pollack is condemning an alleged act of Islamophobia against a student.
Pollack says someone spat on a Muslim Cornell student walking Monday in Collegetown. It’s unknown who the assailant is, but Pollack says if it’s a fellow Cornell student then they will be held accountable for their “deplorable and unlawful behavior.” Pollack says the incident is especially hurtful because it happened during Ramadan.
The Ithaca Police Department and Cornell Police are both investigating.
