WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities in Schuyler County are trying to track down a man they’ve been looking for since Saturday.

Gunfire was reported at Mill Hill Road in the Town of Dix around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday. Details released have been limited, but Police say their investigation led them to a home on Route 414 in Caitlin in search of 40-year-old Rexford “Ely” Smith, whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

Police say Smith could be armed, but they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no direct threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say they’ll release more information as it becomes available.
