ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Some Ithaca businesses could benefit from a change involving parking.

A proposal is advancing to remove off-street parking requirements for a few zoning districts near downtown. The change would benefit businesses that are unable to provide spots on-site.

Alderperson Tiffany Kumar supports the proposal – she calls the current regulations “outdated.”

Ithaca’s Planning and Economic Development Committee approved the plan on Wednesday. It now heads to Common Council.
