NICHOLS, N.Y. (WHCU) — New York State Police say a Pennsylvania man started a barn fire at Tioga Downs Casino, which resulted in the deaths of over two dozen horses.
Authorities have charged 32-year-old Boyd Fenton with arson, burglary, criminal mischief, and assault. They are all felonies. Troopers say Fenton entered the barn early Thursday morning and intentionally started a fire.
Someone who tried saving the horses suffered second degree burns. Fenton is being held in the Tioga County jail.
Meantime, a GoFundMe online fundraiser for the Tioga Downs Horsemen has raised over $72,000.
