ALBANY, N.Y. (WHCU) — New York state lawmakers will begin budget hearings today on Governor Hochul’s spending proposal.

State Senator Tom O’Mara says the month-long hearings will focus today on Hochul’s health and Medicaid proposals. O’Mara, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, says upcoming hearings will delve into transportation, public protection, and education.

Last week, Governor Hochul introduced a $233 billion proposed budget for 2024 to 2025. This morning’s hearing starts at 9:30.
