TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. (WHCU) — The New York State Parks Department is cancelling a planned celebration at Taughannock Falls.
In a statement to WHCU, regional director Fred Bonn says centennial celebration plans for illumination and a guided hike at the state park in Trumansburg, slated for Thursday to Saturday, is being postponed to avoid disturbing the endangered Peregrine falcon, which nests there during the spring.
Bonn says there will be talks about rescheduling for later this year.
