BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WHCU) — The famed Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York is lit up for the season, and its former owner is opening up about donating the tree.
Jackie McKinley is an associate professor at Binghamton University, and the 80-foot-tall, 43-foot-wide Norway Spruce came from her own yard. McKinley calls the decision to donate the tree an easy one to make.
The first ceremonial tree lighting at Rockefeller Center was 90 years ago, in 1933.
