ENFIELD, N.Y. (WHCU) – Officials say there was no tornado in Tompkins County Monday night.

The National Weather Service conducted a damage survey and concluded that a weather event called a microburst likely occurred in Enfield. The microburst produced an estimated peak wind of 100 mph. It uprooted trees and lifted two barns off their foundation near Hayts Road and Sheffield Road.

Officials say damage indicators began to have diverging directions that suggest the spread of wind pools from a microburst, but a final review is needed.
