BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WHCU) — Congressman Marc Molinaro is calling for a state of emergency.

The Republican lawmaker wants Governor Kathy Hochul to declare a statewide emergency about opioid overdoses. Molinaro’s office says an emergency declaration would open up more money and resources to address the opioid epidemic.

New York Health Department officials say Broome County has one of the highest opioid OD rates in the state.
