CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A man who fatally stabbed someone in Cortland has been sentenced.

57-year-old Harold John Young was sentenced to 25 years in prison in Cortland County Court on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Young was convicted of manslaughter and assault in January of 2023 for the killing of David Sears-Lopez. The pair had a fight that turned deadly on the night of November 2, 2021. Sears-Lopez was allegedly an ex-boyfriend of one of Young’s daughters.

Young was previously charged with second degree murder.
