SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WHCU) — A 51-year-old man is headed back to prison after pleading guilty to sending threatening letters to a federal judge and two members of Congress.
In March, Dennis Nelson admitted to mailing Judge Thomas McAvoy in Binghamton with threats to kill him and other people at the federal courthouse in 2018. Nelson also admitted to sending similar letters the following year, while serving time, to the offices of Senator Chuck Schumer and then-Congressman Anthony Brindisi.
Nelson was sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison.
