ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Lansing man could spend the rest of his life in state prison.

Rishawn Vieweg was convicted by a jury Wednesday of kidnapping, assault, and grand larceny. Tompkins County District Attorney Matt Van Houten says the 35-year-old Vieweg abducted a person and restrained them for more than 12 hours with the “intent to accomplish or advance the commission of a felony on August 12-13, 2023, in the Town of Lansing.”

Van Houten adds the kidnapping charge is the most serious of the three crimes and is punishable by up to 25 years of incarceration. Vieweg was remanded to Tompkins County Jail. His sentencing has been scheduled for July 1.
