ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Health officials in Tompkins County hope they’ve turned the corner when it comes to local cases of Legionellosis.

Last week, the Tompkins County Whole Health Department said there have been 12 cases and one death since June caused by the bacteria. Whole Health Commissioner Frank Kruppa says there’s reason for optimism, but the community isn’t out of the weeds yet.

Kruppa adds extensive testing, including for possible sources, is ongoing.
