BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WHCU) — An online fundraiser is nearing its goal in Broome County.

The Rod Serling Memorial Foundation set up a Kickstarter with a goal of $35,000 to build a statue of the Twilight Zone creator at Recreation Park in Binghamton. So far, the group has reached over 75% of that goal. The deadline is April 3.

Recreation Park was the inspiration for the classic Twilight Zone episode “Walking Distance,” which first aired on CBS in 1959.
