ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A Tompkins County man accused of killing his father must undergo more mental health evaluations.

According to the Ithaca Voice, reports Judge Joseph Cassidy ruled Thursday that Keith Rowser, Junior needs more testing to determine if he is dangerously mentally ill. Rowser, who’s 29, says he’s not responsible for shooting his father to death last July because of mental disease. Rowser went through a court-mandated evaluation, which determined he has schizophrenia.

The younger Rowser was charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of his father, Keith Rowser, Senior, who was found dead July 19 at his house on Danby Road in the town of Ithaca.

The Tompkins County DA will review the case once the mental health evaluations are complete.
