ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Ithaca city officials are preparing to devote thousands of dollars to homelessness.
Common Council set aside $100,000 in the 2023 budget. Alderperson George McGonigal says a large chunk of that money will be decided on tonight.
“We’re going to vote to release almost $74,000 of that, and the majority of the money will be used to lease or rent a two-station portable toilet and shower trailer,” he says.
McGonigal says the trailer would be placed at the southwest part of the city. He adds a smaller portion of the money would be used to maintain a dumpster at the same spot.
