ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities in Ithaca are investigating a stabbing.

A woman was forced into her apartment in the 500 block of East State Street and stabbed when she tried to fight back Monday night. The Ithaca Police Department responded to the residence around 11:40 p.m. and found the victim with a stab wound to her torso. Officers interviewed her and others on scene but were unable to identify the suspect, whom authorities believe is not known to the victim. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center and is in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a white male, medium build, about six feet tall and wearing a black hoodie and blue surgical mask. IPD is asking residents in the area to check their home surveillance cameras for the described person. Anyone with information is asked to contact IPD.
