ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Ithaca Alderperson George McGonigal wants Tompkins County to help clean the homeless encampment known as the Jungle.

He says trash is causing great harm to the environment. McGonigal likens the damage to a “slow moving natural disaster.”

The county’s Health and Human Services Committee plans to discuss cleanup efforts on Wednesday next week.
