ITHACA, NY (WHCU) — Today is budget re-vote day for the Ithaca and Newfield school districts.

After spending plan proposals were defeated last month, new budgets head to voters today. The Ithaca City School District is asking residents to approve a $163 million proposed budget and $1.6 million dollars for the purchase of new vehicles, including two electric buses. The original propositions in May were resoundingly defeated at the polls.

The Newfield Central School District has only one proposition: a budget worth $25.4 million dollars. That includes a proposed tax levy increase of 2.5 percent. The district’s original spending plan failed last month by 18 votes.

A defeat at the polls tomorrow means defaulting to a contingency budget for the upcoming academic year.

Polls tomorrow in both districts are open from noon to 9 p.m. Newfield voters can cast ballots at the Newfield Elementary School lower gym. Ithaca has several polling locations, which can be viewed here.
