ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – An Ithaca man has been arrested after a years-long investigation into a pair of stabbings.

Just before midnight on February 26, 2020, Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Agava restaurant in Ithaca for an incident that sent two men to regional trauma centers.

Authorities allege Jameel Melton stabbed two men that night. Melton is accused of stabbing one man in an altercation, and a bystander who attempted to intervene. Melton was arrested Wednesday, April 12, 2023, and charged with first degree assault.

Melton was arraigned in Tompkins County Court and released by the judge under supervision of probation. He’ll appear in court at a later date.
