ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca leads the country in international migration.
According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau compiled from 2017-2021, Ithaca is ranked first out of 385 metro areas. The ranking is based on the percentage of migrants in the overall population, not the overall number of migrants. 1.8% of the population in the Ithaca area moved from abroad. Watertown-Fort Drum ranked 6th with 1.4%. Binghamton and Syracuse ranked 52nd and 78th, respectively.
