ITHACA, NY (WHCU) — A pair of Ithaca city officials want to improve pedestrian safety.

Alderperson Clyde Lederman says funding should go towards redesigning roads.

“That’s a priority of mine, especially as we look at our capital projects later this year, that we put money into pedestrian safety,” he says.

Alderperson Margaret Fabrizio adds potholes are a big problem.

“It’s the sidewalks, it’s the crosswalks, it’s the shoulders,” she says. “We need to be playing really close attention.”

Fabrizio hopes crews will make improvements this summer.
