ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cornell, Tompkins County, and the Town of Ithaca are at odds over an intersection.

The three parties are considering changes at the crossing at Pleasant Grove Road and Cradit Farm Drive. Ithaca Town Board member Rob Rosen thinks the intersection is poorly designed.

“It’s substandard, dangerous, and unfriendly for walkers and bikers,” he says. “There’s no reason to abandon this effort to improve it.”

But the Tompkins County Highway Department no longer believes changes are necessary. The department says reconfiguration would not be “in the best interest of the traveling public.”

Cornell was tasked with developing construction plans in 2019, but the project has stalled. Ithaca’s Town Board will revisit the conversation in June.
