ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Ithaca Fire Department has rescued an injured person in Cornell’s collegetown neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to the 300 block of College Avenue around 2pm Tuesday, April 11,2023, for a report of someone with a serious leg injury. The person was in a construction area on an upper floor of a new building and could not get down.
The crew used a fire truck ladder to get the injured person down safely. The injured person received medical care while the ladder set up in the street. Officials say it took about 40 minutes and the area was closed to traffic. The injured person was transported to the hospital by Bangs Ambulance.
