ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Ithaca has a city manager and a new police chief. 

In separate 9-1 votes Wednesday night, the Common Council approved the appointment of Deb Mohlenhoff as city manager beginning January 1. Mohlenhoff currently serves as chief of staff, a position that won’t exist in the new year. 

In addition, Thomas Kelly is becoming Ithaca’s first permanent police chief in over three years starting December 18. Kelly recently retired after more than 20 years of service with the Schenectady Police Department.
