ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The City of Ithaca has adopted its 2024 budget, but not all lawmakers are on board.
The Common Council approved the $101 million spending plan in a vote of 10 to one.
Alderperson Donna Fleming voted against the budget – she believes the city should emphasize having clean water and good roads.
“We all have our part to play, I think a municipal government’s part is to provide safe, reliable infrastructure so that everybody has the potential to thrive,” she says.
Fleming adds she disagrees with Ithaca giving $1 million to tax-exempt nonprofit organizations.
