ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — There’s a new strategy to manage homelessness in Ithaca.
The Common Council approved a one-year pilot policy on encampments. It includes a green zone where camping is allowed in the southwest part of the city, near Walmart.
As part of the resolution, officials plan to provide supportive services in the area no later than mid-April.
Alderperson George McGonigal calls the policy “good, but incomplete.”
